We are a company founded and staffed by skateboarders. In many industries, a description like that might sound like a recipe for disaster. Delivering innovation within the skatepark construction industry, however, requires a less conventional approach than that provided by the typical builder.
We started this company in 2006 because the demand for quality public skateparks was strong, yet there was a vacuum of builders out there answering phone calls from Parks and Recreation staffers. Playground vendors pounced on this opportunity by carpet-bombing the market with ramp-on-a-slab products that were neither inspired nor long-lasting. Skateboarders who received these installations in their cities felt cheated. City staffers who watched their investments turn to rust and disrepair within a couple of years likewise felt cheated.
Coming from a skateboarding background with experience in construction, we knew the superior solution was based in concrete. The concrete public skatepark is a facility that is custom tailored to the preferences of the local skateboarding community and is durable enough to withstand decades of use with zero impact on a city’s overhead & maintenance budget. It’s not some prefabricated selection of cookie-cutter elements selected from a catalog. To skateboarders, a custom-designed concrete skatepark is the ideal. Hence, we launched Ideal Skateparks.
If you are planning a skatepark project or are a skateboarder trying to convince your city decision-makers to build a skatepark, please contact me and I will do my best to answer your questions and help you overcome the obstacles in the process.
